As a stay at home mom/artist trying to generate income from doing something I love, I read a lot about advertising and marketing. Artists traditionally tended to think of their work as a step above advertising. It was more professional to get into a gallery and let them sell the work. But the industry and the economy has really changed the way artists make money, if at all. So I have been on a quest to learn new an innovative ways to make money selling my art myself.
One of the websites I discovered in my research (surfing the internet when I could be cleaning) is The Mogul Mom. The blog owners name is Heather and I love her tagline. “For moms running a business, raising a family and rocking both.” Cool, right? Her focus is on moms selling things from home, like jewelry. But there is great information for a painter as well.
Last week, Heather had a giveaway offer, an Appsuomo Facebook Ads Action Video Course worth $99. On a lark, since my son was sleeping late, I went ahead and entered. I want to create Facebook ads, but budget is always a concern. I was lucky enough to be a winner. Thank you Heather.
Appsuomo is in itself a very cool website. It’s daily deals for web geeks. I kind of think of it as a groupon for people trying to make money on the internet. The day I joined, they had Shopify on sale for a great price. Seriously considered it. It was an amazing deal. But that day, it just was not in the budget. Today, at appsuomo Usabilla is 83% off. How cool is that? They also have free deals, for those of us struggling financially. Thank you Appsuomo.
So, on to the course. Loved loved loved it. Paul Hontz of thestartupfoundry.com interviewed Jennifer Sheehan founder of FB Ad Labs. I don’t care for watching video how-tos, I think partly due to my age, because my students love them, but I always feel like I”m missing something or can’t take notes fast enough. The thing that made this video tutorial so different was Paul reiterating what Jennifer said throughout and Jennifer explaining in detail what was happening on her screen and why. And the information that was given really touched base for me.
The series was broken up into 10 short videos about why Facebook ads are different, researching your target audience (lightbulb moment!) building an ad, reaching your target audience, designing your ad, (Jennifer gave us a lot of great examples of what worked, what didn’t and why, thank you for such detail), paying for ads on a budget, troubleshooting and tracking. There were many real world examples, a step by step of creating the ad in Facebook, ideas on where to send traffic and lots of information about how to turn the interest or click into a sale.
I just watched the video series this morning and look forward to implementing it into ads this week.
The one thing that sold me on getting education from appsuomo, besides the price is that I can test some Facebook Ads the next week or so, and e-mail questions to appsuomo, and there will be a follow-up in the beginning or August. Nobody does that. Even webinars don’t give you the opportunity to test and come back later to ask questions.
Like I said at the beginning of the course, Loved loved loved it. Thank you Heather at Mogul Mom, Appsuomo.com, Paul at startup foundry.com and Jennifer at FB Ad Labs. I will let you know how Facebook Ads work for me and when I sell something.
